"Incredibly satisfied with our choice to go with Power to the People. Just needed to add an outlet to a closet, which became slightly more complicated due to location of said closet. Cost estimate was extremely reasonable. Blaise was on time, professional, and extremely efficient with his work. He left NO drywall damage, which was a wonderful surprise as we were fully expecting some due to the nature of the job. Power to the People will be our go to electrical company for any future needs!"

"Andrew arrived at our appointment on time. He was very helpful in figuring out what might be wrong with our ceiling fan. He did not charge us for the visit and said to contact him again if his suggestion did not work. We would definately recommend him for any electrical work . Barbara Eleazer"

Call us if you've got flickering or dimming lights, breakers that keep tripping, outlets that feel warm or look discolored, a faint burning smell near a panel or outlet, or you're adding a major load like an EV charger, induction range, hot tub, or generator. Anything with active sparks, smoke, or a strong burning smell is urgent — call immediately, or 911 if smoke is active. A real person picks up M-F 8am-7pm — not a phone tree, not a call center. Voicemails get a same-day callback.
We aim for same-day callback on every service request and same-week scheduling for most non-urgent jobs. Real emergencies — sparking outlet, burning smell, partial power loss — get prioritized as fast as the schedule allows. We're licensed in NC (#33298), insured, and back every job with a lifetime workmanship warranty. No minimum job charge.
A 100→200 amp panel swap on an existing service typically runs $1,800–$3,850, with most landing near the top of that range. A 100→400 amp upgrade with a new service drop and Duke Energy coordination runs $4,500–$8,500. We pull permits and coordinate with Duke directly. If you've got a Federal Pacific or Zinsco panel, that's a known fire hazard — replacement should be a priority, not a maintenance item.
Level 2 (240V) charger installation in Asheville typically runs $850–$1,800 if your existing panel has capacity. Add $1,500–$2,500 if a panel upgrade is needed. The federal 30% EV charger tax credit (up to $1,000 residential) is available — we provide the documentation you need to claim it.
Yes — every realtor-referred home gets a free electrical inspection, no obligation. We document everything in plain English: what's in the panel, condition of the wiring, any code or safety items, and ballpark costs to fix. Realtors send us specifically to protect their transactions on older Asheville homes. If you'd like to be on our partner list, just call.
Every job we do is backed by a lifetime warranty on workmanship. If something we installed fails because of how we did the work — wiring connection, mounting, panel install — we come back and fix it free. Manufacturer defects are covered by the manufacturer's warranty separately, and we help you navigate that if it comes up. The warranty is on us as long as we're in business, which we plan to be for a long time.
Power to the People is owned and run by Andrew Holbein. We're three crews — six electricians plus Andrew — and we drive a hard-to-miss psychedelic van around Asheville.
We started this company because we got tired of seeing homeowners get pushed into work they didn't actually need. Our job is to tell you what's best for your home, not what's most profitable for us. That's what "Power to the People" means.
Every job is backed by a lifetime workmanship warranty. A real person picks up M-F 8am-7pm, and we follow up the same day if you leave a message. We send detailed quotes you can actually understand. And we'll inspect any home a realtor sends us — free, no obligation.
